This 2008 set of Four Seasons Calendar Paintings by Peter Rolfe is the 16th edition.  The calendars get their name from the fact that Peter likes to get outside and paint in every season.  Most of the paintings were done on the scene (en plein air) and all at once (alla prima).  This is quite a different experience from painting in the studio. Peter says that when painting outside there is a sense of urgency because you have to get an image onto the canvas while conditions are changing. Most of the charming paintings depict New England vignettes throughout the year.
